LET IT REIGN

In England you learn to not trust the weather reporters too much, not until the last minute anyway. Well, sorry Waity Kaity but the last minute is here and in true England style, it is forecast, my dear queen-to-be, to rain on your wedding day.

It's so exciting! I can't wait to see the royal umbrellas come out! and to think of the hundreds of thousands of umbrellas which just might line the royal streets of london tomorrow. Fingers crossed X.
Showers are forecast for the Royal Wedding, but when the sun shines it should feel very pleasant with less of a breeze and temperatures hitting 19 or 20 Celsius, 68 Fahrenheit.
The day will probably start with cloudy skies and maybe a light shower. There's a good chance that skies will brighten up during the morning and it'll feel quite warm in any sunshine. However, showers are possible especially from late morning and through into the early afternoon. Source: Isobel Lang of Sky News

ROYAL FEVER

I am missing London this week more than ever.
The Royal Wedding, all that sunshine and champagne everyone seems to be having.
But what will the weather bring on the big day?

God Save The Umbrella Queen.
Never afraid of a matching ensemble, Queen Elizabeth II.

LET'S TAKE A MOMENT

Ok so this is the weekend of rest & relaxation, let's take a moment, no need to think too much, let's just appreciate some wonderful illustrations of days gone by which inspire Wet & Wendy.

GILES DEACON'S 'THE ANGRY CLOUDS'.

In between managing his own Ready-to-Wear line, serving as Creative Director for the French label Emanuel Ungaro and other collaborative duties, Giles Deacon had time to make clouds his focus for  "The Angry Clouds" Fall 2011 Giles jewellery collection.

Numero uno on my wish list this week, although they are yet to blow into stores.

The Cumulus shaped rings, bangles and pendants are cast in gold with black enamel and Swarovski crystals.

You will soon find them online HERE very shortly, be sure catch them before the storm blows over.

EIGHT MINUTES

We had such beautiful Autumn sunshine today in Melbourne, a perfect park day.
Wet & Wendy moved to a new studio and yes, the most important thing is secured, floor to ceiling windows providing all day sun, all day rain, all day clouds, all day storms, all day we will have a beautiful view of the weather.

Now, take note...

It takes only eight minutes for sunlight to travel from the sun to the earth, so if you see the sun go down, it actually went down eight minutes ago. That means the sunlight touching your face right now came from the sun only eight minutes ago.

That makes me feel so warm and fuzzy.

YOURMBRELLA

I AM A WEATHERFILE.

My best friend has decided this. As someone who frequently checks all forecasts, thinks about the day's outfit on the basis of whether the heavens will open up, I also strive to make beautiful products to celebrate the weather. So this my readers I am- a weatherfile.

But something else has happened and I wonder if it will start to happen to you, now that I mention it. Everywhere I go weather related moments just happen.  It's like when you've never seen a type of car before- and then you see them everywhere. All of a sudden the weather is always on my mind.

The other evening this happened. At our local outdoor (undercover) bar, two cuties stood in front of me, silhouetted in the rain with matching umbrellas, drinking vino.

IT'S NOT THE WEATHER THAT'S SULTRY

MISS MONITOR.

This is the first in a series of dedications to Weather Reporters (or weathermen/ women) who for some reason or another brought something special to their local weather report.

Tedi Thurman or "Miss Monitor" started out as a model and not a Weather Girl, her first shoot landed her the front cover of US Vogue in the early 50's.  She became one of the most recognised radio voices in America, best known for her sultry, seductive live broadcasts of the upcoming weather. Her character "Miss Monitor" was seen in the 1957 Dean Martin Flick "Ten Thousand Bedrooms" where she seductively introduces ole Deano. (watch here)

Columnist Alice Hughes described her appearance:
She's 5-feet-7, weight 115, sea-blue eyes, long loosely combed red hair and a 33-21-33 figure. Ingredients like hers can turn the morning dew into a monsoon. (source: wikipedia)
Visit the "Miss Monitor" tribute page where you can listen to her sultry weather report recorded during the 1950's.

Miss Monitor, Wet & Wendy salutes you.

HAS ANYONE SEEN MY UMBRELLA?

As I work on the new Wet & Wendy- Umbrella Identification Service (UIS)
I sit in admiration for Japan, once again as I have done many times of late.

A 1300 year old law states that any property found in Japan, must be handed into authorities within seven days. Unbelievably this means that the central Tokyo lost and found office spans four massive floors and the 30+ officers working there must label and catalogue every item.

To put the honesty policy into perspective, In the year of 2005, 94.7% of all mobile phones reported lost in the city were returned to their rightful owners.

Up to 300,000 lost umbrellas are kept at any one time, making it by far the most common lost item in Tokyo. Umbrellas take up one entire floor and sadly are also the least claimed item with only 0.3% returned to the hands of their surely drenched by now- owners.

I think I can see my lost green umbrella in there, its on the right...at the back.
